5 Ways To Prepare for Small Business Saturday

November 25th is Small Business Saturday! The Lindsay Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all businesses to prepare for the big day. Could your business become a neighborhood champion of Small Business Saturday? Why not host a pancake breakfast kick-off with your business neighbors? Or get your community out for a fun run around downtown Lindsay. Here are five steps you can take to make November 25th a big day for your small business.

1. Use social media to bring shoppers in-store. A great way to create buzz around an upcoming holiday sale is via social media. Small businesses should create posts and tweets in early November that tease their planned promotions. This will amp up excitement among fans and keep the business top-of-mind for consumers as they begin to make their holiday shopping lists. Businesses should be sure to include photos of the items that will be on sale and share details about special in-store events to drive even greater interest.

2. Incorporate Small Business Saturday into Your Bigger Holiday Marketing Campaign

Make a point of including Small Business Saturday in your plans for the season. Think of your goals and how the day can help you. It could be as straightforward as using the day to increase awareness of your business or grow your email list by encouraging folks who stop by your store to sign up for special offers and news.

3. Create a Special Offer

This is a great day to rally your customers and attract new ones by enticing them with special offers like a one-day, time-bound coupon or a free sample. Whatever you do, go above and beyond to make your customers feel special and give them a compelling reason to keep coming back through the holidays and beyond. If you do business online, make sure your offer can be redeemed via e-commerce as well.

4. Partner with other small businesses.

A great way to promote an upcoming holiday sale is to get other people to promote it for you. Small businesses should partner with each other to combine their resources and make the most out of their time and money. This allows them to reach different, larger audiences and increase the awareness of their businesses. This translates directly to in-store sales. This can be as simple as cross-promoting on social, co-hosting an event or the partners offering discounts for clients/shoppers of the other partner.

5. Market Your Business with Free “Shop Small®” ResourcesShop Small image
