City Programs

Economic Development and Business Assistance

The City of Lindsay is committed to economic development and business assistance. The City has a proven track record of working with industries, taking necessary risks, and being flexible.

The City has several programs to help businesses locate and expand in Lindsay:

For economic development and business assistance information, contact Rich Wilkinson, 562-7117.

One-Stop Permit Assistance program

The One-Stop Permit Assistance program was established to serve as a clearinghouse for information related to the city’s various permitting processes. This program’s objective is to ensure that businesses and industry are aware of what permits they are required to apply for, what information they will need to provide in the permit application, and the permit process. The one-stop program coordinator doesn’t personally address all inquiries, but brings together appropriate staff to address questions or concerns and ensure that inquiries receive a timely response. The one-stop program also coordinates activities with other state, federal or other assistance organizations and regulatory programs in an attempt to address questions and concerns in a timely and comprehensive manner.

For more information, contact the city of Lindsay at (559) 562-7103.

Storefront Enhancement Program

The City of Lindsay is actively improving the downtown area. One of the most visual areas, is through the Lindsay Redevelopment Agency's Storefront Enhancement Program (STEP).

The goal of the program is to work in partnership with the private sector to stimulate private investment in the city's downtown.

The Lindsay Redevelopment Agency has already granted funding to several businesses including:

  • El Palmar Restaurant and La Fiesta Banquet Hall, 130 S. Elmwood Ave.
  • County Waffle Restaurant, 380 N. Highway 65,
  • Palmer Insurance, 111 W. Honolulu
  • and others.

The Agency has also arranged for additional murals in the downtown area, including two 20-foot mural panels on the northwest corner of the Suntreat Packing House, 766 E. Tulare Road, and a 16-foot mural on the City Services Building, 150 N. Mirage.
