There's lots to do in Lindsay year round, but these annual events are looked forward to year-round. The Chamber hopes that while you're here you get a chance to participate in some of our annual events.

The Lindsay Chamber of Commerce Awards and Banquet was established to recognize significant contributions made by the Lindsay community members and businesses.  Awards are presented to individuals whom have exemplified the spirit of Lindsay. This year's event, held every year since it's inception in 1912, drew around 200 of the city's business and community leaders.

The event is held in January each year. This year's theme was "Centennial Ball" in celebration of Lindsay's 100 birthday. The evening included the awards presentation, a silent auction, dinner, and dancing.

Awards include: Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Youth of the Year, Business of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, Organization of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Employee of the Year and President's Award.

Friday Night Market and Street Faire

If you talk to any farmer's market fans, they will tell you that the Friday Night Market and Street Faire is special, with exceptional product and goods and the mellow, low-key, local feel of a small town community. If you're looking for something to do on Friday evenings, stop by the Farmer's Market and enjoy entertainment, a sense of community and a selection of the best, most succulent produce from the best growers in the valley.

Part of what makes this farmers market special is that it's not just produce that you can get there. During the unbearably hot summer days, it features a water feature at Sweet Brier Park for the kids. There are also music and art projects, courtesy of the Lindsay public schools. It also sports a flea market where you can find sunglasses, purses, shoes, jewelry, and much much more!

When people across the world think about California, one of the things that they think of are the delicious oranges we grow. In celebration of our most famous crop, the town of Lindsay holds the Lindsay’s Orange Blossom Festival once a year.

There are a large variety of food booths where visitors sample the local cuisine, as well as large dining areas to sit and relax while being treated to live music.

Of course the festival isn't all about music. Children and adults alike marveled at the historic Lindsay’s Orange Blossom Festival parade. (Where else in the country are you going to get a parade at this time of the year?) For those who are athletic, a 62 mile bike tour was added this year. The ride gives you a great view of the orange blossoms, and profits help with the Lindsay Kiwanis club's charities.

The town of Lindsay has been holding the Orange Blossom festival since 1932. The festival has changed a lot over the last 77 years, but one thing has remained constant. The feeling of fun and community that you get when you attend the festival is no doubt close to the same feeling that attendees at the first festival felt. If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year’s festival, make it a point to attend the one next year, and all the ones that follow.

The Lindsay Orange Blossom Festival week culminates with a parade on the third Saturday in April. For the latest information on the Orange Blossom Festival see their website.

Lindsay Community Theater 5th Annual Brewfest will have on tap the Carlos Rodriguez Quarter, featuring four members of Mezcal, on September 25th, 2010 from 2 to 6 PM at the Sweetbrier Plaza, in the heart of downtown Lindsay.

Advanced tickets are onsale now for $30. Pick up tickets at the Lindsay Chamber of Commerce, 133 W. Honolulu, Suite E, Lindsay, CA. You can also purchase tickets at the event for $35.

In celebration of the City of Lindsay's 100th anniversary, the City of Lindsay presents the 26th Annual Chili Cook-Off 10 Decades of Chili on October 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sweetbriar Plaza.

Chili and Salsa Cooking Contest, Pie Eating Contest, Retail Vendors, Arts and Crafts, Car Show, Kids play area, food concessions and lots of entertainment will be featured.

The Lindsay Annual Chili Cookoff can be as much fun as one person can stand. There's usually so much going on it's hard to take it all in. This is one event you won't want to miss so bring your fire-extenguishers (if you like it hot) and come on down on the first Saturday in October.

Prizes will be given for first, second and third place Chili entries and Best Booth Decorations.
